I am Deepak Johnson, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, India. Before taking up this position, I was a JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan. I have also worked as an Associate Fellow at the Foundation for Agrarian Studies, Bengaluru, India.
I completed my PhD in Development Studies from the Indian Statistical Institute Bangalore Centre in 2021. The degree was awarded by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
My interest areas are development economics and agricultural economics. I handle courses related to introductory macroeconomics, microeconomics, growth and development, and R programming for undergraduate and graduate students at the University.
A note about my name: My official name is “Karayamparambil Deepak Johnson” with “Karayamparambil” being my surname (family name). However, I prefer to use “Deepak Johnson.”
